Think I'll pick up a new car today! We had an early start out to the airport to catch our Aegean Airlines flight to Barcelona. Aegean is a good airline, I'm happy to fly with them anytime.
For my ex colleagues, here is an A320, same size, shape and colour as the one we flew on, with Athens tower in the background. Hairservices modelled the new Adelaide and Melbourne towers on this, it's called the Olympic Torch model.
For my friends from Cephalonia, here we are flying overhead Argostoli, a bit high for a base turn, but handy if we ran out of noise.
One more for my friends in servitude; Barcelona tower. One of the striking features of Spain is it's interesting architecture. They don't mind spending the money on interesting structures, even if they haven't got the readies. Not like Hairservices, "just give us the base model, nothing fancy. Otherwise, we can't pay all those middle managers"......
And here is our new car, all ours, registered and insured etc in our name, for the month. First impressions, it's smaller than I expected. Other than that, I'll reserve my comments.
Here's the typical view of Peniscola's main attraction.
Peniscola has a headland with a medieval fort built on it, and stretching from the fort, to as far as the eye can see northwards, an endless wall of hotels, disappearing into the distance. Behind the wall of hotels, wetlands with grass and water. Here is one view from the ramparts of the fort; I like the angles, not a right one to be seen anywhere.
Now, time for food. Tonight, dinner of two courses, 11 euro each. Add a bottle of local wine, very good, and the bill comes to 30 euro. That's less than $40. I'm showing you the entree here.
Main course, black rice; rice with kalamari cooked in it's ink.
Here's the view from the table; it's free. We watched the swifts and the early bats competing for their supper here. So far, the Spanish people have been really lovely. We're really enjoying Spain, much more than I expected. Until the next post, asta la vista.
