Alhambra

Spent the day admiring the Alhambra. Yesterday evening, we took a walk to an area called Albayzin (there are variations on this spelling), which was the Moorish area of Granada. It's main attraction is the great view across the valley to the Alhambra. We were treated to an impromptu flamenco performance; the gent in the white shirt is just a ring in from the crowd, but it was evident he would have been quite a lad in his day.

Here is a pedal powered carousel. I think it might be a Steiner inspired creation, all the fittings were in wood. I'm not sure if it is because of the economic problems, or whether the Greens are particularly well supported in this part of the world.

And now, a few pics from the Alhambra itself. My photos can't do it justice, it's an incredibly beautiful place, and you can google as many decent photos for yourself if you're interested.

  2. Hi Terry, thanks for the comment. I've been credited for a place in this year's ride. See my email for further details. Lots more bicyclists here in Spain than I expected, most in team gear. The surprise is that the majority are on mtb's, hard tails, and they push pretty hard. The ratio would be something like 3:1 mtb's to road bikes. Drivers here aren't too bad either, better than Greece and Italy.
